Laminate benefits
One of the most significant benefits is that laminate flooring is fade resistant. Laminate flooring has an aluminium oxide coating on the top layer of the laminate, which makes it more resistant to fading. If there is constant intense sun exposure, the discoloration can still happen over time. If you have large windows that allow intense sunlight in for long periods of time, consider using area rugs. Or you can draw the shades during those times to avoid fading.
What Is flooring underlayment?
An essential step for any laminate flooring installation is underlayment. Underlayment is a thin foam pad, often made of polypropylene or polyethylene. It is laid on the sub-floor prior to installing the laminate.
Why is flooring underlayment necessary?
Unlike other types of flooring, laminate flooring is not glued down or nailed. For this reason, it needs some form of cushion between the subfloor and laminate to allow it to float easily to allow for expanding and shifting as the climate changes. The underlayment must be put down first to give the laminate a smooth surface on which to float and to avoid any damage due to friction between the laminate and your sub-floor.
